Does This Spell the End for Quarterback Tubby?

The best part about The Giants the past few years has not been the Eli Manning saga, or Jeremy Shockey's appearances at random nightclubs around New York, nor was it the Super Bowl victory over the team I despise the most in the NFL. No, the most enjoyable thing about The Giants is watching fatty, and by all accounts all-around good guy, Jared Lorenzen move his massive bulk around the sidelines. And after the free agent period and the NFL Draft this past month I worry that Lorenzen's time in a Giants uniform might be numbered. The Giants signed David Carr this off-season, the oft-injured, oft-terrible quarterback from the Texans and more recently the Panthers still has a decent arm and can be a serviceable backup. Then in the draft the Giants selected Andre' Woodson, the big, athletic quarterback from Lorenzen's alma mater Kentucky. With veteran Anthony Wright already on the roster, that doesn't seem to leave any room left for my favorite Giant. In his two years with the Giants, Lorenzen has only thrown eight passes and he has as many rushing yards as he does passing completions. Maybe the Giants can keep him as a backup fullback? Or even if they gave him a clipboard and asked him to stand behind the rest of the team on the sidelines so that Fox can continue to pan over to him doing the fatman shuffle throughout the day. Whatever the case, I hope the Giants hold on to Lorenzen, and if not he will be sorely missed.
